Ingredients

Essential Ingredients
  • 5-6 Pointed Gourds (Potala) – peeled and cut lengthwise
  • 2 Potatoes – diced
  • 1 Tomato – finely chopped
  • 1 small Onion – finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp Ginger-Garlic Paste
  • 1 tbsp Om Gold Rice Bran Oil
  • ½ tsp Cumin Seeds
  • ½ tsp Turmeric Powder
  • ½ tsp Red Chili Powder
  • ½ tsp Coriander Powder
  • ½ tsp Garam Masala
  • 1 tbsp Poppy Seed & Coconut Paste (optional, for richness)
  • Salt – as per taste
  • Water – as needed
  • Fresh Coriander Leaves – for garnish

How to Make
It Perfectly

  1. Heat Om Gold Rice Bran Oil in a pan. Fry the pointed gourds and potatoes until golden. Remove and set aside.
  2. In the same pan, add cumin seeds and let them splutter. Add onions and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and cook until the raw smell disappears.
  4. Add tomatoes, turmeric, red chili, coriander powder, and salt. Cook until the oil separates.
  5. Mix in the fried potatoes and pointed gourds. Add water as required and let it simmer until fully cooked.
  6. Stir in the poppy seed & coconut paste (if using) and cook for a few more minutes.
  7. Finish with garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
  8. Serve hot with steamed rice or roti.
